What Wise Ink Is Thankful For this Year

  • Buffer

This post is dedicated to our mentor Milton “Beaver” Adams who believed that working with passionate writers and authors was the ultimate gift.

Tis’ the season. As residents of Minneapolis, one of us (Dara) holds on to summer for dear life, while the other (Amy) can’t wait to embrace the glory of below zero temperatures.

Yet, we agree on one thing: Thanksgiving.  We’re foodies, so any opportunity to stuff ourselves we both embrace with uncompromising zeal.

This year, we both have plans to enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends over home-cooked meals. Dara’s husband Tomme will be adding a special Jamaican flare to this year’s Thanksgiving Turkey. (We’re calling it “Jerkey”) Amy will be hosting her family of seven.

But that’s not all we’re thankful for this year.

We’re thankful for you.

You have made this year iconic for us.
We launched Wise Ink on February 1st of this year, not really knowing if we’d get anyone to actually read this blog of ours. It’s led to the following reasons we’re supremely thankful this year:

1. We’ve met some fantastic folks we’d have otherwise never met.

2. We learned a lot through hearing about your experiences as writers.

3. Our blog gets a couple hundred visits a day! We know that tons of blogs get a few hundred thousand visits a day, but we’re super grateful that people beyond our parents care about what we have to say!

And last, but certainly not least:

4. We’re grateful for the many compliments we’ve gotten about how our blog has been helpful. That has made it all worth it.

We continue to believe that the road to authorship is a glorious journey. Is it arduous? Absolutely!

But we are proud of our writer and indie author community out there following their dreams and getting their messages out there.

We commend you for your efforts and we are super thankful to play a very small role on the road you’re on. Happy Thanksgiving!
